Summer Music

Concert Band ... Jazz Band ... Beginner Strings ... Orchestra ... Glee ...

Registration for the Summer Music Program, directed by Ms. Schoen, is underway. The two-week program will be held at the Horace Mann Middle School from July 21 to August 1.

The Concert Band meets in the morning from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and is open to students entering 5th through 9th grade with one year of playing experience. The Jazz Band meets in the afternoon from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM and is open to students entering 6th through 9th grade with a minimum of two years of playing experience. Both groups are co-directed by Ms. Wright and Mr. Lee-Clark. In the past, students entering grades 6, 7, 8 & 9 have enrolled in both Concert and Jazz Band, bring lunch from home, and have lunch together while informally practicing their music. It is a nice opportunity to meet musicians from across the district.

The Elementary String program meets in the morning from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and is open to students entering 4th and 5th grade who have one year of playing experience. The Summer Orchestra meets in the afternoon from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM and is open to students entering 5th through 9th grade with a minimum of two years of playing experience. Ms. Loukota will direct both string groups.

Summer Glee, for students entering grades 4 through 7, also meets in the afternoon. This is a performance-based group that combines singing and dance movements. They'll be singing songs from artists such as Katy Perry, One Direction, Sara Bareilles, and more. Ms. Fuller will conduct Summer Glee.
